Eurofins Clinical Diagnostics Pte Ltd (Eurofins) is committed to complying with the provisions of the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (“PDPA”) to safeguard all personal data entrusted to Eurofins in the course of providing our services.

What is Personal Data?

Personal data refers to data about an individual who can be identified from that data, or from that data and other information to which the organisation has or is likely to have access.

What is the PDPA?

The PDPA provides a baseline standard of protection for personal data in Singapore. The PDPA comprises various requirements governing the collection, use, disclosure and care of personal data in Singapore.

Eurofins’ Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how Eurofins manages the personal and health data of individuals. It also describes the type of personal data we hold and why, as well as how personal data is collected, held, used and disclosed.

Why do we collect personal data?

In the course of providing our services, we will collect and hold personal data of individuals provided to us directly or indirectly to:

  • provide the required service and advice;
  • administer and manage our services;
  • contact the individual to provide advice or information in which the service will be provided;
  • improve the quality of our service;
  • for billing purposes; or
  • where required by law

When you provide Eurofins your personal data, directly or indirectly, you expressly grant consent to Eurofins to collect, use, and disclose your personal data and if applicable, to all relevant third parties within the PDPA provisions.

What personal data do we collect and hold?

The data collected may include:

  • NRIC/FIN/passport Number
  • date of birth
  • gender
  • nationality
  • occupation
  • address
  • telephone numbers
  • email address
  • medical history and other health information
  • current medication
  • persons to contact in case of emergency
  • other information necessary for us to perform our services

How do we collect personal data?

We collect personal and health data directly or indirectly from an individual. This may take place when the individual, through his/her health service provider completes a testing request form and provides us the individual’s personal and health information.

We may collect personal and health data indirectly from third parties such as:

  • an individual’s health service provider e.g. clinics, medical centres and hospitals;
  • a health professional who has treated the individual e.g. general practitioners and specialists;
  • an individual’s representatives (e.g. authorised representative or legal advisor);
  • local health agencies and authorities; or
  • other sources where necessary to provide a health service

Disclosing personal data

We respect the privacy of your personal data as set out in the provisions of the PDPA. Whilst disclosure of your personal data is limited, we may disclose your personal data in accordance with the purposes for which it was collected, including and not limited to:

  • with other health service providers involved in the individual’s treatment or diagnostic services;
  • with other service providers administering testing requests and results provision;
  • service-monitoring and complaint-handling;
  • legislative and regulatory compliance;
  • quality assurance or clinical audit activities;
  • accreditation activities;
  • billing purposes;
  • addressing liability indemnity arrangements; or
  • research or the compilation or analysis of statistics relevant to public health and safety

Storing Personal Data

We store personal and health data in different ways, including in paper and electronic form. The security of personal data is important to us and we take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including by:

  • requiring our staff to maintain confidentiality
  • implementing document storage security
  • imposing security measures for access to our computer systems
  • providing a discreet environment for confidential discussions

Personal and health data is retained for the period of time determined by law and is disposed of in a secure manner.

Keeping personal data accurate

We take all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal data we collect, use and disclose is accurate and up to date. However, the accuracy of this personal data is largely dependent on the quality of the information provided to us.

Accessing personal data

Individuals have a right to access and correct personal data records that we hold. However, individuals/Patients are advised to contact your health service provider/referring doctor to obtain a copy of your testing records.

Online Policy

Eurofins is committed to protecting online privacy. Visits to Eurofins websites can be made without revealing any personal data.

Our websites may contain links to other third party websites. Eurofins has no control over the privacy policies of third party sites. When following links to other sites from Eurofins website, please read their privacy policy to gain an understanding of their privacy practices.

Email addresses provided to us will be used to provide the requested services or manage your queries. It will not be added to any mailing lists nor disclosed to any other party without your prior consent, unless required by law.
